MS. BELMONT RESORTS

Contestant – National Carnival Queen Pageant 2007 - 2008

If you can empower a woman, you can empower a nation. This is my philosophy.

Strong, motivated and talented are just a few adjectives which describe my persona; a stunning beauty with a charming personality. I am 20 year old Miss Belmont Resort Shanel Bart, definitely a star from the east.

I am no stranger to the stage; I have participated in a number of pageants in which my poise and grace tipped the scales in my favor; not to mention my contagious smile which is said to soothe the heart of any giant.

Branching from a loving, proud but very humble family, past playtimes with siblings have nurtured my love for acting. I often played the roles of a beauty queen and a fictional character whenever there was an opportunity. I was educated at the Beach Allen Primary School and the Basseterre High School then furthered my studies at the Averill Archibald Secretarial College where I have recognized that discipline and perseverance are two important qualities that would contribute to my success.

Currently, I am employed at the St Kitts Marriott Resort as an administrative assistant where I take pride in promoting our country’s tourism product by encouraging our visitors to explore and return to the Gem of the Caribbean. However my real passion lies in cosmetology, a vocation for which I have undying love.

My purpose for entering the National Carnival Queen Pageant is not only to showcase my intellectual attributes, but also to promote a platform offering words of encouragement to individuals who have encountered any form of tribulation along the path of life. I firmly believe that we should never limit ourselves because of societal dictates or any other negative perception of life. It is a known fact that we are taught not to cross bridges that we have not as yet come to, but what we fail to understand is that this world is dominated by men and women who have built and crossed bridges in their own imagination far ahead of the crowd, so we must always strive for excellence even when up against ALL odds.

I must express most sincere gratitude to my sponsors; the very prestigious Belmont Resorts, not only for making it possible for me to enter this year’s National Carnival Queen Pageant, but also for the sterling contributions to Carnival and our economy.
