As a young individual confronted with so many opportunities,
I am continually encouraged by my mother to always strive
for the best. Doing my best is critical because as long
as you do your best, one would be satisfied.
On the
verge of making the transition into adulthood, I am constantly
adhering to words of advice of my elders. They
have a wealth of knowledge and I want ensure that I do not
make any decisions that would hamper my success. Their advice
speaks volumes as ‘behind every dark cloud there is
a silver lining'. These are watch words that guide me through
this maze of life.
My optional subjects are concentrated in the business field
as I intend to embark in the business industry as my career
of choice. This challenging field has attracted my attention
and not only demands a high level of focus but, in order
to succeed, it also requires creativity. These are only some
of the elements of this industry that has captured my attention.
Though
the thoughts of entering the business industry loom in
my head incessantly, I still find quiet moments to reflect
through the pages of a good book. I also enjoy ‘girly
stuff’ such as modeling with Signature Agency.
The Miss Washington Archibald High Pageant provided me with
an avenue to express myself. Pageants should be viewed as
a vehicle for young women to develop positive self-images
and self-concepts, etiquette and confidence. Close examination
of our society would reveal that these named qualities are
seriously deficient. If our young ladies were to possess
some measure of these qualities, some of societal ills would
be obsolete. It is for these reasons that young ladies should
want to enter pageants. I urge my fellow teenagers to watch
this pageant and see the young ladies as individuals who
want to make a difference.
